COVID-19 relief effort by neighbors, for neighbors in Mount Pleasant, DC
Mount Pleasant Neighbors Helping Neighbors (MPNHN) is a long running volunteer program through which residents of Mount Pleasant (DC) help other residents with needs ranging from shoveling snow, to taking people to appointments, to setting up email accounts.
In 2020, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, MPNHN launched a focused effort to help bring PPE, food, and other key aid to vulnerable neighbors. Many incredible humans came together to make this effort happened. My role, in addition to direct volunteering, was being a primary volunteer coordinator, setting up the digital infrastructure to intake over 350 requests from neighbors in need and match over 200 volunteers with these requests.
Despite it being such a tough time, it’s projects like these that give you faith in human goodness.
