A micro-movement to spark warm, unexpected connection
The Bottlecap Project was an experiment in sparking moments of connection between people who are open to spontaneous and sincere conversations with strangers, but need an invitation (the bottlecap) to initiate these conversations.
It was inspired by a story that a friend shared about a capoeira group whose members regularly dressed in the same two colors - even outside the training center. When they came across another person in those colors, for example walking down a street in a busy city, one would initiate a subtle capoeira exchange, and if the other responded, they would have a tiny dance right there on the street. And then they would stop and chat or go on their way, but either way, their day would be a bit warmer for it.
I think often of all the lives constantly swirling around our own (sonder), and how there are potential soul friends around us at any given moment, and I loved the idea of a playful project to increase the likelihood of meeting soul friends.
